Disclaimer

How many of you watch CSI, Bones, or even Numbers? I am going to assume a lot of you…

While they are entertaining, from what I’m told since I have never watched any of those fictitious shows, they are actually not accurate.

DISCLAIMER

This blog is not for those who only watch the Hollywood Effect of crime. This blog is not for the faint heart. If you want the solution to a case at the end of the post, you won’t get it here. Go watch a month or two of ID before commenting. Even then, please do not bring up the first season of CSI. It will not work in real life.

A little background…

My older brother and I went to school in a hearse, my mother’s work vehicle. She worked for countless funeral homes and a crime scene clean-up company out of Baltimore. Both my brother and I were inflicted with a case of the scabies after my mom had a long night at work. Turns out, the deceased also had scabies and my mom carried the dirty little mites home and gave it to us. We spent time in a baking soda bath and taking steroids because of my mom’s profession. It was great! I guess ever since then forensics, crime, among other similar topics have become my favorite thing in the world to research, read, and write about. You can sort of say it’s in my blood!

During our mom’s time at funeral homes, one in particular had a nice showroom of caskets. I’m talking beautiful wooden, cherry stained caskets! Well, that was hide and seek to Bruce and myself. One time, if I remember right, Bruce tried to get me into the casket (which was totally not allowed) or something, and when I ran to tell on him, I saw my first dead body. Any other child might have nightmares, but for us, it was a regular dream.

My mother gave up dead bodies for food. I gave up my dreams (per my last post) for publishing. But an ID marathon, or binge-listening to Sword and Scale is always on my to do list, even the re-runs. My fiance hates it, but at least he is safe knowing that I am fully prepared when someone tries to kidnap me.

Of course after an hour or two of watching ID, anyone thinks they can get away with murder and hide a body. But this isn’t an episode of How to get away with Murder. (Is that show any good? seems like it might be better than the other realistic fiction shows…)

If you want me to discuss a certain case, then let me know! We can absolutely look into it. Even if it takes 10 or 15 posts. While waiting for my next post, start thinking about kids who kill their parents/guardians and parents/guardians who kill their kids…
