Quick post regarding Huffington Post’s article about rehab after prison in Baltimore

Just a quick post.

I came across this article and found it so fascinating. Having worked in the Baltimore City prison system, I met a lot of people (mainly men) who were either bitter and unpleasant or thankful and ready for what life was going to give them if they ever got out of jail. I’ll never forget the one man who was about to be released on Home Detention. I hope he did not end back in jail and that he did what he wanted to do which was to be a barber again and find himself a nice church going woman. Sounds silly but that was his dream he told me for when he was released.

A lot of positives and negatives within our criminal justice system. I am all for rehabilitation and giving second chances to people who actually ‘got it’ while doing their time. Some lives are wasted when they aren’t given a chance to show their potential. And some are so scared when they are released that they end up back in jail because its familiar and safe to them. Before you judge someone whose been to jail, get the facts first. Actions speak louder than words.
